
On Friday Nov. 14 mezcal enthusiasts are invited to experience an indulgence four-course exploration of Mexico’s mezcal regions featuring Mezcal Derrumbes pours with culinary creations developed by Phoenix City Grille’s own Chef Uriel.
The dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the “El Camino real.” This welcome cocktail features Derrumbes Oaxaca Mezcal guava nectar lime Ancho Reyes honey-cinnamon syrup and a Tajin-salt rim. Then the menu will be served which includes:
First course: Yellowtail shooter — Fresh yellowtail tuna layered with mango puree avocado mousse and pickled red onion topped with toasted sesame seeds Meyer lemon oil serrano aguachile and a plantain crisp and paired with Derrumbes Guerrero Mezcal
Second course: Elote y papa — Crisp-smashed Yukon potato and roasted esquites finished with chipotle crema cotija charred scallion oil black garlic salsa macha and corn ash and paired with Derrumbes Zacatecas Mezcal
Third course: Short rib en mole negro — Slow-braised beef short rib glazed in Oaxacan mole negro served over celery-plantain puree with toasted sesame verduras en escabeche and crispy hoja santa leaf and paired with Derrumbes Durango Mezcal
Fourth course: Tarta de chocolate Mexicano — Rich Mexican chocolate torte topped with smoked corn crumble mezcal caramel pasilla-spiced Chantilly cream and corn tuile and paired with Derrumbes Oaxaca Mezcal
