P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Phillip B. Williams to celebrate the paperback release of his debut novel, : an ingenious, sweeping novel — set over four decades and informed by Black surrealism, mythology, and spirituality — that explores the possibilities and limitations of love and freedom through the titular town and its matriarch.
Phillip will be joined in coversation by Hafizah Augustus Geter, award-winning author of The Black Period. After the discussion and audience Q&A, Phillip will be signing copies of .

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Phillip B. Williams is from Chicago, Illinois, and is the author of two collections of poetry: , which was the winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and a Lambda Literary Award, and , which was a finalist for the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry Collection and the winner of a 2022 American Book Award. Williams is also the recipient of a Whiting Award and fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and the National Endowment for the Arts. He currently teaches in the MFA in creative writing program at New York University and the Randolph College low-residency MFA.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
is a Nigerian/U.S. writer born in Zaria, Nigeria, and raised in Ohio and South Carolina. She is a 2025 Hawthornden fellow in fiction, a 2024 Civitella Ranieri nonfiction fellow, a Bread Loaf 2021 Katherine Bakeless nonfiction fellow, and a Cave Canem poetry fellow. Her memoir, (Random House), won the 2023 PEN Open Book Award, and a 2023 Lammy Award in LGBTQ+ Nonfiction from Lambda Literary, and was a Best Book, a Good Morning America Anticipated Book, an Amazon's Best of the Month Editor's Pick, and a finalist for the Chautauqua Prize. She is the author of the poetry collection (Wesleyan University Press), nominated for a NAACP Image Award, finalist for the PEN Open Book Award, and longlisted for a Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize. She is a literary agent at Janklow & Nesbit and lives in Brooklyn, NY.
