WHO WE AREPhiladelphia Animation Society has been screening Japanese anime and related programming since September 1982. Our monthly event is one of the few remaining venues for watching and discussing anime and enjoying related activities in a social setting. We feature a full program mix of classic and current anime, tokusatsu, live action and 3D series, features, films, shorts and specials, and not always just from Japan. We also have one or two vendors and light refreshments.
Join us every second Saturday evening of every month. Things get started at 5pm. All ages welcome. (Under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.)
(Please note that this month we are meeting on the 16th, the third Saturday due to a scheduling conflict at the Church. This is for this month only.)
ADMISSION IS $5 FOR GUESTS, AT THE DOOR.
LOCATION DETAILS
We're in the Parish Room at the First Unitarian Church at 22nd and Chestnut Sts. (2125 Chestnut St) in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia. Entrance is at the side of the building on Van Pelt St. Look for the signs and ring the bell to be buzzed in. The room is air-conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. There is street parking and also several lots within a 2-block radius. Bus and rail transit access is very convenient. The old stalwart comic shop Fat Jack's Comicrypt is two blocks away at 20th and Sansom Sts. There's lots of other shopping, museums, restaurants, markets and convenience stores in the area, too, so consider making a day of it!
It's Halloween month, so feel free to come in costume!
This month, we feature our usual variety of old and new animation, with a Halloween theme for the features! Call it a Double Trick or Treat-ture!
