Phil has made a name for himself exploring sex, romance, politics, and his mixed British-Malaysian heritage, in shows that delight in his unique Wang brand of smart/silly stupidity. Broadcast credits include Have I Got News For You (BBC One), hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Taskmaster (Dave), performing as one of only two non-US acts on The Comedy Line-Up (Netflix), QI (BBC Two), Would I Lie to You? (BBC One), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Ch4), The Last Leg (Ch4), Unspun With Matt Forde (Dave), Roast Battle and Drunk History (both Comedy Central) and Jack Dee’s Helpdesk (BBC Two).
Phil recently used his outsider perspective to dissect the increasingly binary debates dividing Britain in a new BBC Radio 4 stand-up show, Wangsplaining. He has also written and starred in two series of Daphne Sounds Expensive for BBC Radio 4 with his Foster’s Newcomer Award nominated sketch trio, Daphne. Earlier this year Phil began co-hosting podcast BudPod with Phil Wang & Pierre Novellie.
An internationally acclaimed live act, Phil has performed at festivals including Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the New Zealand Comedy Festival. His last critically-acclaimed live show, Kinabalu, sold out at Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and the subsequent national tour was extended through 2018 including four weeks at London’s Soho Theatre.
Jack Berry:
Jack Barry is an exciting name making waves in the comedy world and is probably the only stand up on the circuit with a degree in Chinese – what a waste. Jack will be appearing as a series regular in Mae Martin’s highly anticipated sitcom Feel Good (Channel 4/Netflix) following numerous TV appearances including The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Dad’s Army: The Lost Episodes (Gold), Catastrophe (Channel 4/Amazon), Cuckoo (BBC Three) and Turn Up Charlie (Netflix). Not to mention he also had a brief stint gracing screens and crisp packets nationwide as the face of McCoy’s crisps for most of 2017-2018.
An excellent writer, he has written for Mock the Week (BBC2) and a sketch he wrote entitled Get Staffed went viral, becoming a Vimeo staff pick and appearing on the Canal+ TV show L’Oeil de Links in France. The sketch was shortlisted for Best Comedy Short at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and won Single Funniest Moment at the Portland Comedy Festival.
Jack has provided tour support for comedians including Russell Howard, Marc Maron, James Acaster and Joe Lycett. An Edinburgh Fringe regular, he first appeared at the Festival with critically-acclaimed student sketch group the Leeds Tealights, named Best Student Sketch Group in 2010. He performed his debut solo hour in 2015 and has since returned each year with critically-acclaimed sell-out shows. His 2017 and 2018 shows High Treason and Tango transferred to London’s Soho Theatre. He returned to the festival in 2019 with another sell-out show Alien, which was selected as one of eight comedy shows in the Sunday Times’ ‘Best of what’s on at the Edinburgh Festival’ and received exclusively 4-star reviews.
Along with being a solo act, Jack writes and performs as one-half of acclaimed sketch duo Twins alongside fellow former Leeds Tealight Annie McGrath.
Eleanor Tiernan:
Irish Comedian and writer Eleanor Tiernan is known for her uniquely oblique world view. She has been a panellist on BBC Radio 4’s News Quiz and Where’s the F In News? as well as on BBC Northern Ireland’s The Blame Game. Her stand up has featured on Comedy Central’s The Alternative Comedy Experience and led her to be chosen as support act for Stewart Lee, Tig Notaro, Ardal O’Hanlon, Jason Manford, Jason Byrne and Reginald D. Hunter.
Alongside her stand up career Eleanor Tiernan is a successful comedy writer, writing for ITV2’s comedy game show CelebAbility hosted by fellow comedian, and popular voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling.
Eleanor wrote and performed on the critically acclaimed political satire show Irish Pictorial Weekly (RTÉ) and appeared as Dolores in the RTÉ sitcom Bridget and Eamon. Her other credits include Monumental (BBC NI), The Craig Doyle Show (RTÉ), Headwreckers (Channel Four), Stand and Deliver (RTÉ), The Panel (RTÉ), The Savage Eye (RTÉ), Republic of Telly (RTÉ) and Bad Language (BBC Radio Scotland). She also played Mary in a critically acclaimed run of John Breen play Alone It Stands in theatres across Ireland. Eleanor also frequently writes opinion pieces for the Irish Times, and has written for The i.
She received rave reviews at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2019 (33 must-see shows of the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Herald Sun).
