Phil Kline's Unsilent Night — America's favorite boombox parade — returns to Athens! Gather at Little Kings Shuffle Club (223 W Hancock Ave.) at 7:30 PM Friday, December 19. We'll step off shortly thereafter and parade through downtown and the UGA quad. This is a free, family friendly event that lasts about 45 minutes. It is kind of a miracle — a nonsectarian piece of wondrous music that makes Athens and the season come alive for a fleetingly brief time.
In past years, our Athens walkers have included Kishi Bashi and ACC Mayor Kelly Girtz, who made this proclamation in 2022: https://www.unsilentnight.com/athens-kline-day
And here's a Flagpole piece that explains its all: https://flagpole.com/topstory/2022/12/21/phil-klines-winter-soundscape-unsilent-night-turns-30/
Most participants use a phone and an external Bluetooth speaker for maximum volume. Here's how to do it: https://www.unsilentnight.com/participate
Parking should be relatively easy on the Friday before Christmas, but there's a deck two blocks away on Washington St.
