Phil DeGreg is a Cincinnati-based pianist who has made his mark in the jazz world over the past four decades as a recording artist, composer, and pedagogue. He has toured with The Woody Herman Orchestra and performed with Randy Brecker, Ira Sullivan, Claudio Roditi, J.J. Johnson, Harry Allen, Conrad Herwig, and many others. He has released 12 albums as a leader.
As an educator, Phil retired after 27 years as a Professor of Jazz Studies at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He continues to teach private students and master classes locally and around the world, and has taught with Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops for 36 years.
Aaron Jacobs currently teaches in the Jazz and Commercial Music Departments at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he also holds both Undergraduate and Masters Degrees in Jazz Performance. He freelances on upright and electric bass around the Cincinnati region playing styles ranging from jazz, Latin, rock/pop, and classical music. At present, Aaron plays in various ensembles throughout Cincinnati including the Phil DeGreg Trio, Braza Trio, John Zappa's Now Hear This, Rick VanMatre Quintet, Five Little Bears, the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, and has made appearances with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.
John Taylor is a freelance drummer composer, arranger, and educator based in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he teaches drum set, music theory, and directs a pop combo in the Commercial Music Production program. In addition to drums and percussion, John also plays piano, guitar, and electric bass. He performs regularly with the Phil DeGreg Trio, Brasilia, Kim Pensyl Group, Rusty Burge, Steve Allee, Puzzle of Light, and Theater of Sound. John recently performed with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra under guest conductor Steven Reineke, conductor of the New York Pops. John is a proud endorser of Vic Firth products
