Looking for a film with a mix of Bollywood, hilarious comedy and deeply moving spiritual and moral themes? Then PK is the film for you. A Rajkumar Hirani film, starring Amir Khan in a leading role, this film will have you laughing, crying and ruminating on the powerful messages throughout.
From a far away galaxy, a friendly alien lands on earth. His mission is to research the planet and its inhabitants. But on the very day he arrives he loses his most precious possession: the gadget through which he can summon his spaceship and go back home. As the bewildered alien seeks to recover his lost gadget from this planet of billions, everyone tells him only one person can help in this impossible task: God.
And so begins the alien's hilarious and heartbreaking odyssey: the search for God. He treads to every place of worship, performs every rite and ritual, bends before all beliefs and follows every faith - with side-splitting results. He is dismissed as a drunkard, bashed up for blasphemy. But finally, the world cannot ignore his simple yet searing questions.
PK is a comedy of ideas that sharply brings into focus the frauds, follies and foibles of our world through the innocent eyes of a guest from galaxies away.
UGS Scholars Katrina will be running this event. In true Bollywood fashion we'll have Indian food as well as our usual snacks and cosy blankets!

This event is open only to University of Birmingham postgraduate researchers (PGR).
PGR programmes include: MPhil, MMus, MRes, MA by Research, MSc by Research, MLitt, PhD, PhD with integrated study, EngD, DDS, MD, Higher doctorates and Professional doctorates.
Registration will close 15 mins before the event start time or when tickets are sold out. We will be checking attendees against the Eventbrite registration and you may be refused entry if we have met capacity and you are not on the list. We have limited capacity so please cancel your ticket if you can no longer attend.
