Join us for a special evening on Saturday, November 15th from 6-9 pm (doors 5:30 pm) at the Mt. Airy Art Garage, 7054 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA, 19119, for our second annual PFS/XFS Mashup, featuring Churches & Trains, Jesse Gimbel, Matthew W Charles and the Michael Spear Duo. The show is a collaboration between the Philadelphia Folksong Society's Musical Artists Cooperative (PFS/M.A.C.) and the folk and folk- adjacent artists of the Xtreme Folk Scene (XFS). The show is a lively and inclusive demonstration of what the future of folk music will look and sound like. Tickets: $20 Genl PFS ($10) MAC ($10), cash only at the door. Sometimes solo, sometimes a full band, always singing about hard living and good times, Churches & Trains can often be found playing in and around the Philadelphia area. Churches and Trains have several albums available on all streaming platforms, including their last two albums, Songs to Croak To and Something About a Ghost, released within the past few years. Recently, Churches and Trains released a single called Sunglasses, which is accompanied by a music video.

Folk Festival, Godfrey Daniels, Bethlehem Musikfest, and open mic veteran Michael Spear is the songwriter, singer, and guitarist, accompanied by Ed Kramer on banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobro, bouzouki, and fiddle. Co-winner of Godfrey Daniels' best of open mic competition 2016. Michael was introduced to folk music in college, learning how to play guitar on a used Yamaha classical guitar, the best sixty dollars he ever spent. Now playing Martin and Guild steel-string guitars, Michael’s repertoire is a mix of ballads, blues, and political songs that transcend the limitations of so-called short-shelf songs.
