Experience pewtersmithing to create your own pewter spoon using traditional metalwork skills.
Ella will guide you through the variety of traditional metalwork skills needed to design and make your spoon before you take home to proudly use.
We will be working with sheet metal to raise your spoon from a flat sheet of metal. Using hammers and formers with a variety of heritage craft skills such as raising, piercing, soldering and polishing techniques.
Pewter is a lead free metal, traditionally used to make tankards and tableware.
Ella is a multi award winning contemporary pewtersmith who established her practice in 2012.
Suitable for beginners or those with previous silver or jewellery experience.
10am - 2.30pm (half an hour lunch break. We have a cafe on site or please feel free to bring a packed lunch).

What should I bring to the event?
All materials are provided including tea, coffee and biscuits as well as aprons and design inspiration however if you have any doodles or pictures of ideas you'd like to make please do bring them along. Lunch can be purchased from our on site cafe, feel free to explore the local Northern Quarter area or bring a packed lunch.
We will be using tools and molten metal so please wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty, though aprons are provided.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope. Just the name the booking was made with and we'll tick you off our list.
What's the refund policy?
If you find you can no longer attend the workshop please inform Ella at [email protected] at your earliest convenience.
A full refund (minus eventbrite fee) will be given up to 30 days before the workshop date. After 30 days prior Ella will try to fill your space using her reserve list, social media or you can transfer the ticket to somebody of your choice. If a new attendee can be found a full refund (minus eventbrite fee) will be given, unfortunately if your place cannot be filled we will be unable to issue a refund.
Where is Studio 10?
The class will be held in Ellas dedicated workshop space new to her studio at Manchester Craft and Design Centre, a short walk from Piccadilly and Victoria train station. Studio 10 is the first studio on the righthand side as you enter the bulding through the frontdoor. We look forward to welcoming you.
Is the workspace wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, due to the building restrictions, studio 10 is not wheelchair accessible.
