About this Event
Rutland may be the smallest county in the UK, but it boasts a rich history. We head to Barnsdale Gardens, with the UK’s largest collection of individually designed gardens, which was created by the much-loved late BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, Geo Hamilton, before enjoying a relaxing afternoon cruise on Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe. The next day we visit “The nest scene between London and Edinburgh” Sir Walter Scott said of Stamford, a Georgian town of immense charm with over 600 listed buildings, which has been used many times as a filming location. Along with Burghley House, also featured in many films, is one of the largest and grandest houses of the Elizabethan age. Finally, a day in Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies and stilton cheese, and Oakham capital town of Rutland.
