Peter Blackstock co-founded No Depression magazine with Grant Alden in 1995 and was its co-editor through 2008. From 2014 to 2022, he was a staff writer covering music in Austin, Texas, for the daily Austin American-Statesman, where he began his career as a copy editor and columnist from 1982 to 1991. Old No. 1 at 50: A History of Guy Clark’s First Album is a new book written by Peter Blackstock. The 100-page book includes interviews with people who were in the room during the making of the album, as well the story of the “lost” album that was recorded before Old No. 1 and why it was never released. There is an accounting of the songs and the backstory according to Guy Clark. Interview conducted by John Kunz.
