*TICKETING & DOOR POLICY*
Whilst we occasionally run ticketed Friday Night Specials, entry for our regular weekly Thursday club nights is on a first-come-first-served basis and unticketed and we do not take advanced seat bookings.
Entry for regular club nights is free, we pay our guests by way of a *CASH* collection. Whilst we understand that some simply haven't the means to make a contribution and absolutely DO NOT wish to exclude them, we expect those who can to make as generous a donation as they are able in recognition of our guest's work.
*PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATES BEFORE SETTING OUT*
Life is full of unexpected ups and downs, illness, weather and other unexpected things can spoil the best made plans. We may sometimes have to change our guest at short notice, or even cancel an evening altogether. To avoid disappointment please re-visit the relevant night's event for updates *BEFORE* setting out.
*PETE GILBERT
I’ve never deliberately done much solo work in my life. I’ve always enjoyed being in a team, playing sport or playing music, it just felt good being a part of something. But now I find myself going solo and so here I am. I’m getting used to it and now I’m enjoying it. One thing I can say is that 'Lockdown' took its toll on me and it made me realise just how much I need people. I often used to think of that little room in Crookes and the great nights I've had there.
During Lockdown I made a new album called 'Behind Frosted Glass'. I think the songs are very good, but then I would wouldn't I. However I do realise that the fact that I had to play every instrument did limit me somewhat, I don't claim to be a good musician. I did have some help from Bridie May Miller though and she did some vocals for me and using copy and paste she sent them via the internet and I added them, it's worth listening to the album just to hear her she is wonderful. I will have copies of the album with me but I don't charge for them so just make a donation and help yourself to an album. All proceeds on the night go to Sheffield Childrens Hospital which our family will be forever indebted to.
These days I spend a lot of time in my recording studio, it sounds grand doesn't it but it's just half of my converted garage. I have recorded some very good people, if you fancy a go, just let me know.
I will continue to write and play and perform as long as there is a beat in my heart but I won’t out stay my welcome, I will know when it is time to call it a day, but that time isn’t quite yet!!!! I have met some really good people in Sheffield and enjoyed their performances at various places and I hope some of them will come along and see me this time. Thing is, my every performance could be my last.
I really enjoy playing at Crookes Folk Club, it’s a great place. I enjoy the organisation, the friendly atmosphere, and the ‘humour’.

Doors open 8:15, *PLEASE WAIT DOWNSTAIRS UNTIL CALLED*
Singers and musicians of all standards and styles are welcome to come along and do a short floor spot.
Free entry: Collection & raffle for guest.
