Pet Sounds Reimagined and Bird With Strings

Paul Booth & The Bansangu Ensemble with The Festival Chamber Orchestra
Paul Booths’ love of the ‘iconic’ Beach Boys album Pet Sounds led him to transcribe the original album in its entirety, and then arrange it for his Big Band ‘Bansangu’, with sell out shows at Ronnie Scotts in 2024.
This year Pet Sounds Reimagined has expanded to include the Festival Chamber Orchestra, exploring the music of the Beach Boys in in yet more exciting and innovative ways.
Alongside this ‘Bird with Strings’ uses the wonderfully lush orchestral arrangements which feature on the album’ Charlie Parker with Strings’ which he recorded in the late 1940’s and early 50’s.
Both Albums are seen as iconic in their own right and the new versions performed this evening, present a wonderful fusion of Classical and Jazz with a wonderful tapestry of Musical Styles and colours.
All with stunning vocals from Ian Shaw, Liane Carrol and Natalie Duncan.
