Course Overview:
This course is based on the industry-standard method of animal CPR, designed to teach participants how to provide lifesaving care to dogs and cats during emergencies—until professional veterinary care can be obtained.
Participants will receive certification in Canine and Feline CPR and First Aid upon completion.
We encourage attendees to bring a stuffed animal for practicing CPR and first aid skills (optional but recommended).
Skills & Topics Covered:
Safety techniques when working with sick or injured animals
Emergency triage and how to recognize life-threatening medical situations
Safe restraint and transport of injured animals
Providing first aid during transport to veterinary care
How to take and interpret vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, capillary refill time)
Building and using a pet first aid kit effectively
Managing common emergencies, including:
Bleeding and severe wounds
Choking
Poisoning
Burns and more
Performing current industry-standard CPR techniques on dogs and cats
