About this Event
The Personal Licence Holder Course (which is mandatory for all Premises Managers) is aimed at Licensees, Managers and Bar Staff who wish to apply for their Personal Licence. It is an intensive one-day course during which we cover the introduction to licensing; responsible operation of licensed premises and the effect of alcohol consumption on customers and business.
The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 states that in order to sell alcohol, every premises must have a named "Premises Manager" – the qualification to become a "Premises Manager" is a Personal Licence.
The qualification has been specifically designed to ensure that learners can develop their knowledge of the licensing legislation, gain an understanding of the licensing processes in Scotland along with the roles and responsibilities of both individuals and organisations involved in those processes. In addition, candidates will learn about other forms of legislation that affect them while working on licensed premises along with a greater understanding of the effects alcohol can have on individuals and on society.
Candidates must provide one of the following documents at the time of enrolment and examination:
- A photocard driving licence
- A valid passport
- A valid identity card from within the EU
- A Military identity card
- A Government identity card
- A Security Industry Authority card
- A Personal Licence, issued by a Scottish Licensing Board
