Ralph Van Deman, Marlborough Churchill and Dennis Nolan were the triumvirate of U.S. Army intelligence services. Together they grew the Military Intelligence Division during WWI – domestically and within the American Expeditionary Force – into becoming an all-powerful institution by the beginnings of the Red Scare.Historian Scott Moseman will evaluate the men’s traditional efforts to collect and analyze intelligence for policymakers, along with their more controversial roles in domestic security and surveillance of American citizens. Hosted in partnership with the U.S. Command and General Staff College.
