4 Week Course for women starts Monday 10th March 7.45 - 9.45pm @ The Zed Shed, PenrynIn this course we will be co-creating a ritual dance performance piece exploring the mythical embodiment of the awakening of Persephone, the Goddess of Spring. We will film the performance of this piece in an outdoor setting on Saturday 5th April between 9am-2pm.
In Greek Mythology, Persephone rises from the underworld in Spring, bringing the renewal of life after Winter. Aligning with the Spring Equinox, we will be exploring our own rebirth through alchemical dance, embodied storytelling, serpentine movement and mask making.

In the story of Persephone and Hades, Persephone was taken to the underworld by Lord Hades, where she ate the seeds of the pomegranate. Now she returns, asking us what seeds we are planting and how we are nurturing our dreams for the year ahead. We will explore our connection to natures cycles of life, death and rebirth through dance, ceremony and embodied performance art.
IMPORTANT INFO:
Please make sure that you can attend all four sessions if you wish to take part in the filming on 5th April. If you miss important practice sessions, it may not be possible for you to take part in the filming. If the filming date is postponed due to the weather, it cannot be guaranteed that the alternative date will suit everyone.
You will be given a simple mask making project, so please allow time for completion of this homework, which is an important part of the alchemical process. Costume costs will be kept to a minimum for everyone.
