Periodontal Update for the General Dentist - In Person with Online Option
Course Summary:
Periodontology is the structure of dentistry, it keeps the tooth and supporting tissues healthy. This course will review some basic principles of what you used to know and update what new research shows to be the most effect treatments for improved periodontal health. Topics to include are crown lengthening, gingival grafts, bone grafting, pocket reduction procedures, non-surgical treatments.
Course Presenter:
Dr. Deborah Foyle is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Director of the Predoctoral Program in the Department of Periodontics. She received her dental degree in 1982 from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. In 1991, she received her Master of Science in Periodontology from the Royal London Hospital Medical College, University of London.
She received her certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science in Oral Biology from the Texas A & M University in 2005. Dr. Foyle is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Carlos Parra was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. He graduated from dental school (2009) at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), Barcelona, Spain.
After his graduation, he got enrolled in a Clinical Residency in Periodontology at UIC (2009-10).
He also served as pre-doctoral clinical instructor (2011 – 12) at UIC.
During that period he was also involved in researches relating oropharyngeal dysphagia and oral hygiene.
Dr. Parra practiced dentistry in Barcelona, Spain, for 3 years (2009-12) prior to coming to Boston, USA.
In 2012 he continued his studies for a Certificate in Periodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts (2012-15).
Since November 2015 he has been Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas.

- The basics of periodontal and systemic health
- What are the best methods available for diagnosing and treating the Endodontically and Periodontally Compromised Teeth.
- To present future perspectives for tissue regeneration.
- Biofilm based treatment philosophy
- Adjuncts: what to use/when to use them
- Standard of care treatment protocol

This Course is intended for general dentists however specialists are also invited to attend as it is an excellent periodontal review course as well. In addition dental hygienist and dental assistants will gain knowledge and benefit from this course.
