The Musicological Society of Australia (SA Chapter) presents an afternoon of discussions of this perennially fascinating topic. We begin with a lecture by musicologist and gamba player Dr Graham Strahle on the pioneering harpsichordist Wanda Landowska (1879-1959), followed by virtuoso recorder player and scholar Brendan O'Donnell on the 21st century Baroque performance and how it interacts with the current musicological research. Dr Jula Szuster leads a conversation between piano historian Benjamin Nicholls and pianist James Huon George about piano performance, and finally violinist Isabelle Watson and pianist Dr Dylan Henderson will present a lecture-recital on Robert Schumann. Ample time will be allowed for audience discussion both formal and informal. Afternoon tea served. All welcome.
