La performance Balance est réalisée par l'artiste Bridget Polk dans l'exposition Coming Soon, au 3ème étage de la Fondation.
Le « rock balancing » est une pratique méditative qui consiste à empiler des pierres en équilibre. S'exerçant le plus souvent en pleine nature, cette méthode est devenue populaire dans les années 2010, à l'avènement des réseaux sociaux.
À l'inverse des “rock balancers” traditionnels, Bridget Polk mélange roche naturelle, matériaux de construction et déchets architecturaux, composant ainsi des paysages composés d'histoires hybrides, qui semblent défier la gravité. Elle doit d'abord trouver le point d'équilibre entre les pierres, qui leur permettra de rester empilées quelques jours, quelques minutes ou quelques semaines, avant de s'effondrer. Son univers entre la ruine et la formation naturelle semble tenir magiquement. C'est un orchestre sans fin, métaphore accélérée de l'ascension et de la chute des civilisations.

Rock balancing" is a meditative practice that involves stacking stones in balance. Most often practised in the great outdoors, this method became popular in the 2010s, with the advent of social networking.
Unlike traditional rock balancers, Bridget Polk mixes natural rock, building materials and architectural waste, creating landscapes composed of hybrid stories that seem to defy gravity. She must first find the point of balance between the stones that will allow them to remain piled up for a few days, a few minutes or a few weeks, before collapsing. Her world between ruin and natural formation seems to hold together magically. It's a never-ending orchestra, an accelerated metaphor for the rise and fall of civilisations.
