Experienced, novice, and first-time percussionists, as well as musicians of all levels, are invited to join us for an evening of Cuban & Latin American Salsa Music. Overview

5:30pm - 6:50pm Percussion Workshop (Lesson & Guided Practice) - $25 per person
Explore the rhythms of Latin percussion with Instructor Wilson Melo Garcia, who trained in his native Columbia and has performed with numerous Latin bands. Instruments such as Congas, Bongos, Timbales, Bells, Claves, Maracas, and Guiros will be provided. If you have your own instrument, feel free to bring it along. This class is perfect for both absolute beginners and advanced players. Limited spots are available, so book early to secure your place and avoid disappointment.
7:00pm - 7:50pm Introduction to a Latin Ensemble - $5 per person
Do you play Percussion, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Brass, Woodwind, or are a Spanish-speaking Vocalist? Join the Son Geelong musicians for an introduction to a Latin ensemble. Pieces are chosen from this non-exclusive set list:
• Buena Vista Social Club - Chan Chan
• Buena Vista Social Club - El Carretero
• Grupo Niche - Algo Que Se Quede
Pre-register stating your instrument and receive the relevant charts in advance. Please bring them for use on the day.
8:00 - 9:30pm Ensemble Session - $5 per person
Bring your instrument. Basic reading and aural skills are beneficial but not essential. Pieces chosen from this non-exclusive set list:

If on this occasion the day or particular songs don't suit, we would still love to hear from you. We play a range of music and are always open to exploring future possibilities.
About Us
Son Geelong is a group of seven experienced musicians who regularly perform for the local Salsa Dance scene. The band members are:

Together, they bring the energetic and infectious rhythms of Latin music to life and are passionate about sharing that joy and growing the local live Latin music scene.
