Are you a resident or business owner affected by the extensive gas line replacement project on Penn Avenue and extending into Friendship? Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation and Friendship Community Group are co-hosting a community meeting to give you a forum to speak directly to People's Gas representatives regarding your concerns. These could be concerns about their resident notification process, street closures, parking, general communication about the work schedules and locations, the contractors on site, the time of day the work is being done... anything you feel compelled to share that you think People's Gas should be aware of. The current project on Penn Avenue is part of a year-long replacement project between Negley Ave. and 45th Street that began in February 2024 and is scheduled to end in February 2025. Each section or block of Penn Avenue itself will take approximately 6-8 weeks. During that timeframe, the westbound lane is scheduled to be closed to traffic between 8 am and 4 pm, while the eastbound lane remains detoured.
Scheduled to attend from People's Gas are: the Construction Manager for their Central Division, the Construction Manager and Supervisor for their Large-Diameter Pipeline Construction Projects (such as Penn Avenue) in the area, and their External Communications Manager.
