This year 2024, marks the 200th anniversary of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). There has been a lifeboat at Aldeburgh since 1851 when it was relocated from Sizewell, where a lifeboat had been in place since 1826. As a fitting tribute, our fourth ‘People and Place’ Christmas Exhibition celebrates 200 Years of Aldeburgh’s Lifeboats.
On display will be photographs and paintings of our lifeboats from the 19th Century to the present day from the Museum’s collection with additional images provided by the RNLI.
