About this Event
Calling all elementary school and high school students! Professional Engineers Ontario - Niagara Chapter is proud to announce that the annual March Break popsicle stick bridge busting competition is BACK in person, for the first time in 4 years!
Prizes will be awarded for the strongest bridges and a separate prize will be awarded for bridge ~Aesthetics~. Prize winners to be announced at our awards ceremony.
Parents - this will be an interesting (free!) activity for your kids, in honour of , held over March Break, and a great way to show them how fun engineering can be!
Participants must come to the event with a pre-built bridge, labelled with the participant's name, and made according to the Competition Rules. Bridges that do not conform to the rules may not be busted and may be disqualified. For more information about this event and to view this year's Bridge Buster! rules sheet please visit our website.
Participants will need to work on their bridges ahead of the event date to allow time for the glue to dry properly (we recommend at least one day), then bring them to the CEM Engineering office (Unit B entrance - address below) no later than their scheduled time. Friends and family are invited to attend to cheer on their favourite bridges, and those who cannot come in person can tune in online to watch the bridges being showcased live! Check out the video below for an example from last year's virtual competition.
Registration is required for each individual participant to participate in the competition. Registration requests participant/guardian details (name, grade, email) to determine eligibility to win prizes and to send necessary updates regarding the event.
