Pentatonix is an a cappella group that's known for their pop-style arrangements that blend vocal harmonies, scat singing, riffing, vocal percussion, and beatboxing. They perform cover versions of modern pop songs and Christmas songs, as well as original material. Their performances are captivating and have made them a worldwide sensation, especially popular with young audiences.The group consists of five members: Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola, Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Avi Kaplan. They won The Sing-Off in 2011 and were signed by Madison Gate, a small Sony-owned label, which released their debut EP, PTX, Volume 1, in June 2012. They also started a YouTube channel where they posted videos of their songs, many of which went viral. Their pop-rock covers on YouTube have over 1 billion views.
Pentatonix has collaborated with artists like Kelly Clarkson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, and Lindsey Stirling. They've also appeared on awards shows and late-night television, and made a cameo in the movie Pitch Perfect 2. In 2015, they won their first Grammy and their self-titled album debuted at the top of the Billboard charts.
