“Attention is the beginning of devotion.” ― Mary OliverThis is an experimental class focused on connecting to the deep self, sometimes known as the star self, the sacred dove, the god/dess self, and by many other names— through the Pentacle of Devotion, inspired by a tool developed by Valerie Walker, aka VeeDub. Respectfully, we will explore and play with this tool by moving through the pentacle points:
*Devotion -- Truth -- Radiance -- Grace -- Blessing*
But what does it mean, to practice devotion? Devotion to who, what, and how? In this class, we will move inward and outward with our practices, working with the ways that devotion to self opens us to more powerful ways of working magic in the world, and how devotion to mystery, diety, and nature bring us into deeper intimacy and in love with ourselves.
It’s a practice of returning home to ourselves, finding ways to be our own blessings, and refill our cups to be able to offer more to the world.
This is not bubble baths or buying something to make things feel better. Returning to one's self is an act of courage and commitment. It's an act of devotion to what is true and real and vital to our lifeforce.
Maybe instead of self-care, we can shift to self-devotion. If we can see ourselves as divine, can we treat ourselves as such? What magic will we make in the world, what creative works, what activism, can emerge from this place?
This class will include trance work, writing, poetry, spells, movement, and deep silence in an intimate container.
This work is experiential and immersive, grounded in magick.
We hope to offer space to renew, reconnect, and reflect on what brings us back to life.
