Our *Quail Trails are designed for children aged 4-11 and their families. They are a step up from our popular Snail Trails (toddler walks). Time will be built in to explore the surroundings, observe wildlife, climb trees, or simply relax. Around this beautiful area are fantastic views, abundant wildlife, and historical features. This one is an extended family-friendly trail of 4 miles. Learn about the history of the Pendle Witches and visit sites of legend, history and witchcraft, along this route from Barley. This walk lies in the shadow of distinctive Pendle Hill, which we have admired from many of our walks. A 2.5-3 hour, family-friendly walk, during half-term Halloween week.
Although it is a child-centred event, individual adults are also more than welcome to join us!
Child-friendly dogs are also welcome, on leads.
Parking and facilities are available in the village green car park at Barley and there is a great little café to warm up with fab hot chocolate after.
Other family-friendly (Quail Trail) dates to look out for are: 20th Sept (Sat) and 27th Dec (Sat).
👀Have a look on our calendar on www.abigailstrails.co.uk for these.
*Quails are small ground-nesting bids, which inhabit grasslands, preferring areas of tall vegetation. Quails are more often heard than seen, with repeating chirps (sounds like children playing outside to me!).
Pre-booking is required using our ticket link. As with all Abigail's Trails this walk is led by a professional, qualified Mountain Leader and places are limited. Prices are: Family Ticket (up to 5 related people) £12, Adult and Child Combo £8, Individual £6
