A new mental health support group is starting soon, offering a welcoming, peer-led space for adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, and overwhelming emotions. Each one hour session provides a confidential, supportive environment where participants can connect with others who understand what they're going through. The group is led by local peers - individuals with lived experience managing mental health - who guide open conversations, promote shared understanding, and encourage healing through connection. "This group isn't about fixing people or replacing therapy or counseling. It is about making sure no one in our community feels alone in what they are facing," said Richard O'Reilly, one of the peer leaders. "We're here to listen, support, and remind each other that it is okay to talk about mental health."
The program will begin Thursday August 28 at 7pm, continuing every second and fourth Thursday for eight weeks. It will be held at Carey Link, 200 E Findlay St in downtown Carey. The group is open to all, no diagnosis is required.
“This is a safe space for anyone feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or simply needing someone to talk to,” said O’Reilly, “All are welcome - whether you're just starting your mental health journey or still continuing down the path.”
