About this Event

NOVA ANNUAL TRAINING EVENT TEEN TRACK | ORLANDO, FLORIDA

The Peer Advocate Academy TEEN TRACK at the NOVA Conference is a three-part EDUCATE, ADVOCATE, ACTIVATE training experience for young people ages 13 - 18 to gain knowledge and practical skills to promote healthy relationships on campuses and in communities across the U.S. This academy is led by peers for peers with the goal of increasing healing, safety and support for Gen Z youth impacted by interpersonal violence.

This academy is for peers by peers and will be held in person at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in Orland, Florida during the Annual NOVA Conference.

Teens interested in becoming trained as bloom365 Peer Advocates who can not attend in person will be able to participate virtually through our online ZOOM classroom.

The Peer Advocate Academy TEEN TRACK will equip teens to educate, advocate and activate with their peers to #UprootAbuse in a generation.

Day 1-Educate: BLOOM365's researched-based promising practices for interpersonal violence prevention are delivered in 7 Doses. Each dose is tested and delivered by peers ages 13 - 24 and includes relevant information for root cause prevention. Activate your knowledge to educate peers on how to cultivate safe and healthy relationships. Topics covered over the course of 7 highly interactive "doses" include: red flags, barriers to seeking help, consent v. coercion, caring v. controlling, self-esteem, communication, conflict resolution, bystander intervention, starting a movement, peer support, and more!

Day 2-Advocate: Ever feel unprepared to respond to a friend or peer who shares that they are experiencing or witnessing domestic/sexual/teen dating violence? Day 2 is all about building the advocacy skills needed to LEVEL when disclosures arise. You will gain real-life skills and leave this track knowing how to Listen, Empathize, Validate, Encourage, and Link to resources if someone you know is ever impacted by violence in their lives. A practice session on self-care will wrap up this track.

Activate: The next step is to activate your new knowledge and skills to engage your peers and school community to #UprootAbuse. In the activate track, you will learn how to launch your peer to peer movement to achieve a laser focused Big Hairy Audacious Goal: to educate and activate 10% of your peers and Trusted Adult Allies to work together to cultivate empathy, respect, and consent as the norm for all. The activate track fosters campaign building, awareness raising, and root cause prevention skills.#BHAG2030
