About this Event

Who should take the course?

This course is designed for physicians and nurses not specializing in pediatrics, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pre-hospital providers, respiratory therapists, outpatient clinic staff and school-based providers.


Course Covers

The PEARS Course prepares the student to provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until a child can be transferred to an advanced life support provider. The course includes:

  • Systematic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Assessment and management of respiratory distress and shock
  • Identification and management of cardiac arrest
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

Course Delivery

Instructors deliver the cognitive learning and the skills practice and testing in a classroom setting. At the end of the course, students are provided a course completion card when they achieve a minimum score of 84% or greater on a video-based written exam and demonstrate proficient child and infant BLS skills.
