This months ride will offer two options to suit different abilities: a shorter 45-minute route or a longer 90-minute ride (excluding stops). Those choosing the shorter option can relax under a shaded pavilion at the historic pumphouse, enjoying the scenery and wildlife—don’t forget your binoculars! The pace will be slow and comfortable, perfect for appreciating the unpaved roads and scenic vistas.Lake Apopka, Florida’s fourth-largest lake, has a fascinating history. Once a world-class bass fishing destination, its north shore was drained and farmed over a century ago, leading to environmental degradation. Now undergoing restoration, the area offers solitude, sweeping lake views, wetlands, canals, and abundant wildlife. Expect to see alligators basking, herons, hawks, waterfowl, and more!
We’ll meet in the Magnolia Park parking lot (west side of Binion Road, near Lake Apopka). Find directions here: https://goo.gl/maps/QjUk2Y8dEeRjgMa48 .
After the ride, we’ll gather for snacks or a late breakfast—location TBD.
Important Details:
- Ride Surface: The trail is unpaved with packed gravel. It’s smooth but includes small bumps, so road bikes with narrow tires are not recommended. A hybrid or mountain bike with moderate-width tires works best.
- Conditions: Full sun exposure—bring sunscreen, snacks, and water. Roads will be dusty, so washing your bike afterward is advised.
- Facilities: Water and bathrooms are only available at the starting point at Magnolia Park. There’s a port-o-let at the pumphouse and a couple of shelters along the route.
- Other Notes: A spare inner tube is recommended, and helmets are required. Expect minimal, slow-moving traffic for about a mile.
Don’t let the details deter you—this promises to be a fantastic ride!
----------

We will roll exactly at the start time unless you message us that you are running a bit late and we see the message before leaving. The ride leader and host, Doug, will arrive 30 minutes before the start time. Please make sure tires are pumped, you have water/snacks as needed, and are prepared for other contingencies. A spare tire tube would be a good idea if you have one. If you don't have special bike clothes, that's totally fine! Wear comfortable athletic attire that will not get caught in your bike.
Common courtesy to fellow riders and other folks on the trails is appreciated.
Please have Emergency Contact Information on you (not in your phone). If you have something like a RoadID please wear it; otherwise a paper in a baggie with the information on it will work as well.
Feel free to message Doug if you have any questions or need more information. If you need to cancel, please change your RSVP to NO so other riders don’t have to wait for people that never show up. If you are running late, please message Doug.
WEATHER
