We are rescheduling due to damage in the trail. We’ll see you in November! This is the route we peddled in May 2024 on portions of Volusia County's Spring to Spring Trail and Sanford's RiverWalk along the Lake Monroe lakefront in Downtown Sanford. We'll be starting at 8:30 AM since the days are warming up. You'll get some nice scenery and mostly sun (but a little shade near the beginning too).
Meet at Lake Monroe Park's Boat Ramp restroom and then well head to the trail at the Gemini Springs South Trailhead. Be sure to use a single car parking spot and not the boat trailer parking.
There will be two choices of ride duration for riders with different capabilities. If you think you're a cycling newbie and want an easier ride--all on paved off-road trails--we have you covered! We go out and back to our starting point if you only want to do the first leg. Our more established riders have asked for slightly longer rides than in the past so we will go further on the second leg.
We'll meet at the Gemini Springs South Trailhead. Note that the parking area for bike riders is in Lake Monroe Park - you have to drive all the way in to the back behind the boat launch area, so if you see boats, keep going! We'll ride the Spring to Spring Trail to near Gemini Springs Park, then return to our start as our first leg.
The ride will be at a relaxed pace, all on paved off-roadway trails. For folks that want to stop there, we estimate it will be about 30-40 minutes of riding. For those that want a longer ride we'll continue the other way, crossing over the St. Johns River and under I-4 and following the Sanford RiverWalk trail along the Lake Monroe lakefront to the end of the trail in downtown Sanford before returning. The full ride will be roughly 1 hour 30 minutes total (not counting stops). Restrooms and water are available at the start and a couple other locations along the route.
Afterwards, we will find a place to eat and drink, location TBD.
----------
Beginner and intermediate riders will be fine on this "no-drop" ride, meaning we will not let anyone fall behind and get separated from the group.
You MUST wear a helmet and sign a waiver of liability (do this in advance to save time). A parent or legal guardian must sign for, accompany, and be responsible for all persons under the age of 18.
You only need to sign the liability waiver once. You can print, sign, and bring, or we will have copies at the event:

We will roll exactly at start time unless you message us that you are running a bit late and we see the message before leaving. The ride leader and host, Doug, will arrive 30 minutes before the start time. Please make sure tires are pumped, you have water/snacks as needed, and are prepared for other contingencies. A spare tire tube would be a good idea if you have one. If you don't have special bike clothes, that's totally fine! Wear comfortable athletic attire that will not get caught in your bike.
Common courtesy to fellow riders and other folks on the trails is appreciated.
Please have Emergency Contact Information on you (not in your phone). If you have something like a RoadID please wear it; otherwise a paper in a baggie with the information on it will work as well.
Feel free to message Doug via Messenger if you have any questions or need more information. If you need to cancel, please change your RSVP to NO so other riders don’t have to wait for people that never show up. If you are running late, please call Doug.
WEATHER
We will be monitoring the weather in the event conditions do not look favorable. Unless the event is cancelled by 7 AM, the event will happen as scheduled. Check in here and monitor this event if you are unsure.
