Laugh, learn, and get inspired by a mix of people from Providence as they share their ideas, stories, and creations using the PechaKucha format of 20 images that last 20 seconds each. Named best event in Rhode Island by RI Monthly!
This Month's Theme: Sweet & Sour
Summer’s wrapping up, and yeah, that’s a little sour, but fall is rolling in with all its cozy vibes—and that’s definitely sweet. Come hang at The Flower District (Formerly What Cheer Flower Farm) as we embrace the changing seasons with a good beverage in hand, chill vibes, good company, and the start of something new.
Bonuses: Get there before presentations for a whole slew of things to experience!
?The Flower District will have a station where you can make your own bouquets with their repurposed flowers.
?Drums from PVD House
?? Performances from Transfiguration Dance
Parking: Parking for this one will be a little tricky. Our friends at the Atwood Health Center will be opening up their lot for us. Beyond that, you'll be looking for street parking in the Olneyville neighborhood. Plan to carpool, arrive early, or ride your bikes!
Seating: In typical PechaKucha summer fashion, we'll have limited seating available, but this is prime time to break out your blankets and lawn chairs.
Food and Beverages: PK's besties from HiBarLoBar will be quenching your thirst, and Puggles Grilled Cheese will be there for ooey-gooey-goodness.
Extra special thank you this month to The Flower District, the RI Foundation, and RISCA, for bridging the Transfiguration Dance Project with PechaKucha!
What is PechaKucha?
If you haven't heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009. To the best of our knowledge, Providence is the only chapter in the entire world that hosts a PechaKucha Night every month of the year.
