Join the African American Museum in Philadelphia to curate your own family archive with a scrapbooking workshop. During the activity we will explore the concept of a family archive and create our own through hands-on scrapbooking activity. Inspired by Pearl Bailey’s handmade scrapbooks featured in our Pearl Bailey Showcase exhibition; this program will be led by Lunise Cerin from Memory Workers Guild. Guests are invited to bring small personal items that reflect their family’s unique story to incorporate into their scrapbook pages. The museum will provide base materials for up to two pages while participants are encouraged to bring meaningful objects such as photographs fabric pressed flowers letters recipes or other treasured keepsakes. Together we will celebrate making family archives accessible personal and exciting within our gallery spaces.
