PEAK by Riding On Insulin
January 8-13, 2025 at Alyeska Resort in Alaska
PEAK is a five-day ski and snowboard camp in Girdwood, Alaska for adults with Type 1 diabetes, or those who have a very close connection to someone with T1D. It's like diabetes camp for adults!
- You'll spend three days on snow with a group of 12-15 adults and one day learning the basics of being a "coach" by shadowing one of our seasoned coaches for the day and helping out with an on-snow group at a typical Riding On Insulin camp. All attendees fundraise to attend PEAK, which helps support our mission and all eight of our annual winter camps for kids and teens with Type 1.
- We'll be staying in Girdwood and skiing at Alyeska Resort for PEAK. We will have breakfast together every morning and group activities in the evenings. Coaches will fly into Anchorage on Wednesday, January 8th and home late Sunday night (9 PM or later) or early morning Monday, January 13, 2025.
- Fundraise either $2,500 (your book your own flight) or $3,500 (flight included). Either amount includes the cost of all meals, lift tickets and transportation while in Alaska. The nonrefundable $250 deposit is counted as a donation that counts toward your total of $3,500 or $2,500.
- We have nearly 100 people either living with T1D, or passionate about T1D, as coaches for our winter shred camps. We have coaches in 30+ states who travel to their local camps, and sometimes out-of-state camps, to ensure we have the proper number of experienced coaches to lead each of our groups. The youngest is 19-years-old, the oldest is 75-years-old. It's a unique group that shares a special bond and provides the backbone of our quality ski and snowboard camps. They are doctors, engineers, bowlers, ski instructors, accountants, graphic designers, college students, professional ski instructors -- the list goes on! They each bring a unique perspective to the overall team outlook and are great mentors to our T1D campers.
- Riding On Insulin exists to empower, activate and connect the global T1D community through shared experience and action sports! We rely on a number of fundraising methods, but one of the largest is our peer-to-peer network of fundraisers like our Coaches! Help more kids and teens attend our events around the world by raising funds for the cause.
