About this Event
"Peace of Art" unites emerging creatives from Berlin, NYC, and Paris, providing a unique platform for 40 young artists that aims to foster cultural, artistic and political exchange. Hip-hop culture forms the heartbeat of this connection—a shared space where they exchange ideas, gain fresh perspectives, and reflect on their lives in new ways. As ambassadors for their respective cities, the participants will build a network over the span of two years, consisting of digital meetups as well as in person trips to each city – starting with 10 Days in New York in phase one and 10 Days in Berlin and Paris in phase two. Apart from addressing current social and political issues that they care about, they will also work on artistically processing their ideas and thoughts together, bringing those on a stage to a large audience through music, photography, poetry and more. Politicians from the three different cities will act as patrons of the project, giving the participants an insight to political processes and the opportunity to communicate their viewpoints to decision makers directly.
Since its inception over 35 years ago, Gangway e. V., has fostered meaningful exchanges between young people from Germany and the USA through street social work in Berlin. This project is a collaboration with the Centre Francais de Berlin, the “Deutsch-Französisches Jugendwerk” and the Hip Hop Education Center NYC.
