PCHS January 2026 Membership Program - West View Cemetery Tour with Sam Deputy
The January membership meeting of the Putnam County Historical Society will be on Saturday January 17th, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the West View Cemetery, 321 Osceola Street, Palatka. Please note this program is a “Field Trip” and involves walking on some uneven ground. Our presenter will be Putnam County Historical Past President, Mr. Sam Deputy.
Sam Deputy is a lifelong Palatka resident, respected business owner, and passionate advocate for local history and community
revitalization. As the owner of Deputy’s Attic, a beloved downtown shop known for its eclectic charm and historical flair, Sam has blended entrepreneurship with preservation. A past president of the Putnam County Historical Society, he continues to serve as a trusted resource on regional history and heritage tourism. Sam is also a driving force behind Palatka’s most cherished traditions, including his leadership of the annual Christmas parade and his hands-on role in downtown development and cultural programming.
Sam’s guided tour of West View Cemetery brings to life one of
Palatka’s oldest burial grounds. It is shaded by mature oaks and
native Florida flora, offering a peaceful and reflective setting. The
cemetery served as a primary burial site for many of Palatka’s early residents, including veterans, civic leaders, and families who shaped the city’s development.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Nicole Grace, President
Putnam County Historical Society
