PCC Cultural Celebration: Maganda Kami

Lourdes Angeles-Diaz would do anything for her family, even if that means sacrificing who she is. The bills are piling high as her Lola’s medical condition worsens. While her mother works hard at her 9-5, Lourdes is searching for a way to help support her family too. Taking inspiration from her Lola’s favorite pastime, watching beauty pageants, Lourdes decides to revive the family legacy and take part in the local pageant in an effort to win $10,000 for her Lola’s medical bills. As the process goes on, Lourdes begins to learn more about herself and her family’s secrets. All while she questions if she has what it takes to become Miss Mariposa. Through performances from Bayanihan’s differing performing aspects, the story shares a tale of discovering oneself through familial and self-love.

ADMISSION

• Doors are scheduled to open 30 minutes before event start time.
• Plan to be in your seat before the start time.
• Your seat may be offered to another if you are not present at start time.
• Those arriving after the performance begins will be admitted in a way that limits disruption to the artists and those already seated inside the venue.

PARKING

• Arts Lot #126 is the closest parking lot to the event
• Pay $5 to attendant if present, use Park Mobile, or display a valid UCSC permit.
• Visitors with DMV placards or plates may park for free in DMV spaces, Medical spaces, or ParkMobile spaces without additional payment, or in timed zones for longer than the posted time.
