SWIM PROGRAMConquer your fear of open water with our two-part SWIM PROGRAM. This program boosts your confidence in ocean swimming through personalised coaching with our Head Coach Phil in small groups of 10 and support from an additional water safety team member.
During SWIM PROGRAM 1 you will learn the fundamentals of how to read conditions at any coastal location with Phil discussing in detail the elements of wind, swell, tides, seafloor and waves. This 30-minute discussion leads into the exciting 60-minute practical part of the session where Phil guides you through the essential skills of diving, how to navigate through the break and back to shore, adjusting your stroke, sighting, and the highlight for past participants, body surfing.
SWIM PROGRAM 2 is an opportunity to consolidate your recently developed skills and knowledge and apply them in a practical sense. Part 1 ideally prepares an individual both mentally and physically, for the lifesaving skill of what to do when caught in a rip. With Phil’s guidance and support from an additional water safety team member, you will navigate and deliberately swim in and out of a rip.
What you’ll learn…
Diving: How to use the correct technique to get under waves in deep water
In & out: How to get through the break and return to shore in the fastest possible way
Body Surfing: Utilise the whitewash when returning to shore
Swimming: Learn what technique is best for different conditions
Sighting: While swimming in the wave zone you will be shown alternate sighting techniques
Rips: Understanding different rips and how to identify them
