5 rounds of Swiss -- Cut to Top 8
**No proxies allowed** **Non-Unified**
There will have a cap of 32 teams and minimum of 8 teams. Teams will be made up of 3 players. One team member will play Standard, one will play Modern, and the last will play Legacy. Each player on each team plays a best two-out-of-three game match where competitive REL rules apply. The first team to win two matches wins the match and their team earns three (3) match points.
Minimum Number of Teams:
This event will require 8 registered teams by February 24th to fire. If the number of registered teams is lower than this, the event will be cancelled and all PayPal payments will be returned.
Preregistration:
We require teams to register and pay for the event ahead of time. Teams are required to pay at the same time they register. We only accept PayPal for this tournament (PayPal address is [email protected]). Teams can pay $100 from one member or $33.33 from each member. Once the team has been paid in full, one member should send an email to [email protected] with the names of all three teammates AND their Wizards account email that is paired with the Companion app. Include "2024 team tournament registration" in the subject line.
Simply entering the Companion code does not qualify a member or team for registration - we must have payment and Wizards email information for all three players to confirm registration.
Am I Able To Communicate With My Teammates?
You are and when done correctly, it can be very beneficial for both you and your team. Asking about mulligan decisions, specific plays to make, or how to sideboard are all allowed. The only communication restrictions in place are if a player leaves the table during a match for any reason, they are no longer allowed to communicate with their teammates.
Why do we require Preregistration?
The reason we do preregistration is because this is a very popular event with a player cap. We don't want teams to sign up, hold a spot, and then not show up to the event. Preregistration payment gives players a reason to not bail out on the tournament and throw away a spot that other people would have liked to fill.
