Rooney’s Story:
Rooney's story is one of love, joy, and a deep bond between a dog and his family. From the moment he was born on April 3, 2018, to his sudden passing in 2024, Rooney lived a life full of adventures, touching countless lives with his unique spirit.
Rooney came from a special lineage with his parents, Chucho and Gorda. His striking appearance, with a black seal coat and a perfect white stripe down his nose, made him stand out among the rest of the bulldogs. His personality matched his looks — vibrant, affectionate, and always seeking to make people smile. Named after Art Rooney, the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rooney was a true Steelers fan, and his family made sure everything about him reflected that, from his Steelers-themed leash to his Terrible Towel drool rag.
Rooney's love for people was immediately evident. On walks, he would seek out attention, bringing joy to anyone who crossed his path. He was especially good with children, never snapping but offering comfort when they needed it most. His social nature was remarkable, and he had a way of making even those afraid of dogs feel at ease.
His love for food was legendary. From dining out at his favorite restaurants to enjoying special treats, Rooney always had a good time when food was involved. His fondness for people extended to his love of “Wine Walks,” where he would eagerly join his family and check out local shops, hoping for a taste of cheese or something else delightful.
Despite his playful nature, Rooney’s health was a concern as he grew older. His back legs started showing signs of trouble, and by 2024, he had a series of seizures that led to a devastating diagnosis. The MRI revealed a fluid pocket on his spinal cord, and surgery was needed. After raising funds through a GoFundMe, Rooney underwent the surgery, and though it was successful, tragedy struck just two weeks later when he collapsed after eating his dinner.
Rooney's passing left a profound impact on his family. He was more than a pet; he was a soul dog — a perfect match for his family, the one dog who understood them like no other. His love, joy, and presence were irreplaceable.
Yet, Rooney's spirit lives on. After his passing, his family connected with Hannah, a medium, who shared a message from Rooney, letting them know that he was at peace. Inspired by his legacy, they created a special event called Paws to Remember, where pet owners could connect with their departed pets through mediumship, with Rooney as the star of the event.
Rooney's story may have ended too soon, but his legacy will continue, bringing joy and comfort to others, even beyond the physical world. He will never be forgotten, and his impact on those who knew him will remain forever.
