Pawpaw Chapter Field Trip Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area

11am – Walk on the Joe Kenner Nature Trail with Assistant Park Manager Chris Clauson. This is an easy ¾ mile walk through a maritime hammock. Note that the trail path is uneven in spots and may be muddy depending upon recent weather.
We can also check out the native landscapings at the ranger station and the riverside campground. The riverside campground project was partially funded by two Pawpaw Chapter grants.
Dress appropriately for the weather, bring water and bug spray.
There is a park entrance fee of $5 per vehicle ($4 if only 1 person) for all attendees of this field trip (unless you have a state park pass).
12:30 – Bring your own lunch for a picnic in the Tradewinds Pavilion
2 pm-4pm - Pawpaw members only are invited attend a private kayak tour by Friends of Gamble Rogers State Park (FROGRS) with kayak guides Paul Rebmann and Vince Schrider. This is a 2 hour trip across the Intracoastal Waterway to explore the estuary that is part of the Tomoka Basin Aquatic Preserve. Space is limited to 10 people so advance sign-up is required. Both single and tandem (2-person) kayaks are available. Cost is $45 a person if renting a kayak, $20 per person if using your own kayak.
