Come ready to paint!

In the late 1800’s this property was the site of Port Blakely Mill, one of the worlds largest sawmills. The mill closed over 70 years ago and nature has reclaimed much of the area making it uniquely suited for a waterfront park. The monolithic skeleton of a generator building still stands on the shore of the harbor and wood pilings still wade solemnly in the shallows. Lots to paint. The Land Trust and the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District worked in partnership to preserve 40 acres for public use protecting the sensitive shoreline. There’s a viewing platform ideal for a lunch spot as well as a place to Show and Tell at 5:00PM.

Facilitator: Fatima Young and Co-Chair Sylvia Carlton
