About this Event
It is after much thought and disappointment (and a little motivation from our insurance company) that we are here to say DC9 will be hitting the pause button. This Saturday, December 19th will be our last day until March - this, unfortunately, will include take out and delivery.
As many of you know, we’re a live music and events venue as well as a solid and dedicated neighborhood bar. Our food/drink sales and the amazing support of our regulars have gotten us this far, and for that you have our unending gratitude and we can’t thank everyone enough. But, because of our status as a venue, our insurance costs are much higher than would be if we were just a traditional bar or restaurant. Despite this, we’ve been paying this premium the past 8 months, even though we are not functioning in this capacity, and won’t for the foreseeable future.
With the opportunity to lessen the cost for the next couple months, we feel that benefits to taking a break outweigh the option to stay open. Between the virus picking up steam, keeping our staff safe, and declining sales over the past few weeks, we determined this is the best decision to make for our long term survival.
Now, this being 2020 and the unpredictability of the times we live in, if any of the following happens, we will consider an earlier return.: everyone in the country commits to wearing masks.The spread of the virus slows to a rate where reopening is safe. The Mayor rescinds some of her most recent restrictions because it is safe to do so. Or, there is some stipulation in the Entertainment Bridge Grant that require us to be open (if we’re lucky enough to receive one). Got to stay flexible during all of this!
So, stop by this week to send us off or order takeout burgers and chicken sandwiches. You know you’ll miss them!
