About this Event

Anglo-Dutch financial connections and contrasts in the mid-18th Century: the Amsterdam phase of the 1772-3 credit crisis

Paul, as many of you know, is one of the most engaging and entertaining presenters on financial topics – indeed his recent lecture on the Leith Whisky bubble of 1898 (see our web site) was one of the highlights of the Weekend of Mistakes at Hay-on-Wye. For this event Paul, a former investment banker turned academic, will turn his attention to Amsterdam of the 1700s. As we all know, the Dutch were not averse to financial catastrophes as the locus of the famous tulip market bubble, so this should be a very interesting presentation.
