Paul Black grew up being rocked by gospel and country, but at the same time, he already felt attracted by bands like Led Zeppelin or AC/DC, and it was finally a gift from his cousin that would make him head towards the blues, the latter having offered him tickets to see Stevie Ray Vaughan in concert. The shock was terrible and after obtaining a copy of Jimi Hendrix's album "Are You Experienced", Paul Black decided to dedicate his existence to blues-rock, refining his learning by listening to Albert King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Gary Moore or T-Bone Walker, the list being not exhaustive.
Going to live on the side of Victoria, British Columbia, the Canadian singer and guitarist will participate in the creation of several groups before launching solo with a first effort, then with a second one that will open the doors to European playlists and magazines, enough to put balm in his heart and allow him to record this third cake released in early March with Wynn Gogol on the Hammond organ, Malcolm Cooley and Curtis Lieppi on drums and finally Sarah Smith and Carrie-Ann Lieppi on choirs.
In a dozen compositions but also a cover of the "Brick House" of the Commodores, Paul Black strives to take us into a personal universe in which his guitar is very present, but without giving up many small elegant motifs, well-thought-out arrangements and voice effects that lead to "Beautiful Sin" on the side of the very beautiful realization of this first quarter of a year that promises to be rich and intense. A real invitation to free yourself from any form of restraint to better participate in the party, the book seduces his world with some beautiful pieces in the genre of "Howl & Moan", "Leave It Like You Never Gonna Die", "Never Go Home", "Losing You Love" or "Go On Home" and reminds us that Paul Black has everything it takes.
