Paul at Flower Piano: "Songs About the Piano"

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! On September 20, I will be in Golden Gate Park for the annual Flower Piano exhibit in the SF Botanical Gardens to perform "Songs About the Piano" - a one-hour show that pays tribute to the 88-key instrument we know and love.
Flower Piano is an excellent tradition, where for a whole week 12 pianos are strewn about the SF Botanical Gardens for all to play. I have attended it religiously for years, but this year they actually put me on the schedule - and I am so excited to play on Friday, September 20 at 12 noon. It will be an honor to perform along so many talented musicians during the week.

My show — "Songs About the Piano" — was conceived during the COVID pandemic, and I performed it last year at Martuni's. The piano is a wonderful instrument, where you can play and sing many songs. But there are surprisingly very few songs that are specifically about the piano itself — and the true joy of playing it.
I have researched a (nearly) exhaustive list of songs about the piano. We will start with "Piano Man" by Billy Joel, and then "I Love a Piano" by Irving Berlin. Fats Waller, Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder, Edith Piaf and Diana Ross will all make an appearance. Please come!
