What will this course coverThis course is a great opportunity to spend time working on patterns, how to alter the pattern to a different shape or style, along with how to fit and correct fit issues, along with measuring for fitting. It will give you an opportunity to decode commercial patterns.
The course runs over 5 weeks from the 4th February and each week we will focus on a different area of patterning.
WEEK ONE – INTRODUCTION TO PATTERNS
This week will include how to measure men and women, looking at measurements on commercial patterns. How to transfer your measurements to a pattern and exploring general fit and correcting fit issues.
WEEK TWO – DARTS AND NECKLINES
We will be exploring different darts, how to move a dart, and exploring different necklines.
WEEK THREE – SLEEVES
This week we will be measuring and fitting sleeves, altering a pattern to make flared, puff, gathered and drop shoulder sleeves. Altering arms, sleeves and moving sleeve seams.
WEEK FOUR – SKIRTS
We will be measuring for a skirt, how to pattern a variety of skirts from a basic skirt pattern, patterning a circle skirt and godets.
WEEK FIVE – DRAPING ON THE STAND
This week we will focus on how to alter a tailors stand to your measurements, how to drape, and draft patterns from draping, including demonstrations.
Who is this workshop for
This course is suitable for absolute beginners in pattern manipulation.
Do you need to bring anything with you
Please also bring with you pencils, eraser, a ruler, a pattern curve if you have one, along with paper, scissors and Sellotape.
What else do I need to know
The courses at LilyBoo have bought together people for a chat, to learn something new and there is always lots of laughter. Please note that the course is held upstairs, up a flight of steep steps but once there, you will have everything you need.
