Transform your fashion creations with our Pattern Customisation Workshop by learning how to create your own pattern blocks!
Join our workshop and receive expert guidance from fashion designer Alex Dubell, who will empower you to make personalised changes and embark on a journey of creativity and self-expression.
The knowledge and skills gained in pattern cutting contribute to a positive shift in our fashion choices, promoting mindful consumption and reducing the cycle of fast fashion.
Embrace the change and empower yourself to make a lasting difference in the way we approach clothing creation and consumption while unleashing your design potential to acquire an introduction to pattern-cutting skills needed to tailor your wardrobe to perfection.
There are two parts to this workshop over two weeks:
Week 1, Tue 2nd July (9:00-1:00) OR Sun 7th July (10:00-2:00pm): Bodice Block , learning how to create your own bodice (to fit you!) from which you can add sleeves and skirts
Week 2, Tue 9th July (9:00-11:30) OR Sun 14th July (10:00- 12:30): Sleeves, learning how to create sleeves to add to your bodice
Who is this workshop for?
To participate, all you need is the confidence and experience to construct a garment from a basic pattern. So basic sewing skills are required. If you have completed one of The ReDress Hub's Slow Fashion Sewing Series, this workshop should suit you.
Our expert instructor, fashion designer Alex Dubell, will guide you through every step, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge to start your journey in the art of pattern cutting.

What do I bring?
All materials are supplied for this workshop. However, if you do have your own meter long stick ruler, a French curve and/or set square, please feel free to also bring these with you, but not necessary to purchase beforehand as we will have these tools for you.
Please note: This workshop will take you up to cutting out your new pattern at home, so fabric is not required for the workshops. However, we do recommend that a sample of the bodice is made at home to bring to Week 2 for any fitting changes that may need to be made.
Tea break: There is a short break during the Week 1 workshop. Please bring something from home to keep your energy levels up to eat at The ReDress Hub or you will find plenty of places in the city to get a light snack.
The ReDress Hub has tea and (instant coffee) for you during the day or there is a small cafe (Cake O'Clock) directly across from us for that 'real' coffee need!

How do I book?
Please select the date for Week 1 (either Tue 2nd July OR Sun 7th July) and select the ticket of your choice.
Your ticket pays for Week 1 and Week 2.
Installment Plan
As we understand that we do not always have the money available to us when we need it, we have also set up an installment plan for you to pay in two smaller payments. You can reserve your ticket using the Installment Plan Reserve Ticket and then use the Add-ons to make your final payment.

What if I don't feel well?
If you have been or could have been exposed to COVID19 (or another contagious illness) through travel or a close contact, please consider your attendance and or wearing a mask at the event.
If you have any symptoms and don't feel well please don't attend your workshop and get in touch with us for more details.

Meet Alex Dubell, a creative in the world of fashion and an entrepreneur with a keen eye for blending creativity with cultural appreciation. Born with an innate passion for design, Alex's professional journey in the fashion industry took its first steps in the vibrant city of New York, where she interned with the renowned designer Anna Sui.
Showcasing her creations on London runways, her work caught the attention of the fashion world, making a mark with her unique designs and pattern-cutting abilities (pictured above). This period in London not only solidified Alex's presence in the industry but also fueled their desire to explore and push the boundaries of fashion.
Alex has also worked in Berlin with the esteemed fashion label Boessert Schorn, later returning to the UK to set up a fabric retail business aimed at inspiring fashion and textile students.
Alex’s design journey led her to Australia where a unique opportunity presented itself in the Northern Territory to collaborate with the local Aboriginal community of Utopia and the project, 'Off the Dot,' showcasing micro-Aboriginal paintings ingeniously framed within handbags.
Today Alex has eased off the breaks a little (or not) and has redirected her creative energy towards a new passion: garden design. Embracing the natural world as their canvas, Alex is currently immersed in the study of garden design, blending their artistic sensibilities with the organic beauty of landscapes.
However, finding herself still drawn to the fashion world she strives to find a positive purpose with her skillset, which she believes she has found with The ReDress Hub.
