Patrons … want to do a completely informal rendition of Hamlet? I know, I know … its intimidating. We don’t know what we are doing. We are not scholars of the tradition, but we love Shakespeare, and we are giving it a go.***Act 1: The Ghost’s Story
Synopsis:
In this act, we meet Prince Hamlet, who is very sad because his father, the King, has died. His uncle, Claudius, has become the new King and married Hamlet’s mother, Queen Gertrude. Hamlet is not happy about this. One night, Hamlet sees a ghost that looks like his dead father. The ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius is the one who killed him and asks Hamlet to get revenge.

MUST READ:
- If you choose a character, you MUST patriciate. No back-outs. 😉
- You choose a character for just one Act, you aren’t bound to that character each week.
- Materials are spares and that’s okay! Production costs are low.
- Rendition is modern English
- Each person will get a script for the whole Act, and your lines are on it. NO NEED TO MEMORIZE, just review them.
- Adults participate – yep.
- All ages can participate and if they are new readers, we roll with this and may have someone behind the person help with words. We do ask that those with new reading skills take on the little scripts
- Anything that is explicit (yes Shakespeare has it all), will be dropped. If there is something in advance that you think should be taken out or avoided, please let me know ahead of time.
